The Easiest DIY Intaglio Art

Hi y’all! I know I’ve already shared reels and tiktoks about my latest DIY project but I wanted a permanent spot for it to live on my blog website since I’ve been getting a lot of questions about it!

First of all, I’ll address my bedding if you’re new around here! My headboard is antique (it was my childhood headboard) and the bolster pillow was custom made. I’ve linked similar and same items here for our bedroom!

It all started when I found these 3 frames from HomeGoods for $13 dollars a piece. Our frames are 12×15 which is kind of hard to find? The mats are 11×14 — linked here. I haven’t been able to find the *exact* ones online but these are similar!

These are the intaglios I bought from Etsy. I got the ones with the gold edges (a little but more $$ but I love the look of it!)

I also found the exact paper I grabbed at Michael’s — linked here.

I cut the blue paper and taped it to the mat, then I glued the intaglios to the paper (I just used craft glue).

At first when I placed the intaglios inside the frames, the frames would not shut. However, I cut up a few pieces of spongy foam and put it in the corners of the frame and I think since the frames have metal / springy closures (if that makes sense), they were able to close.

I know this isn’t a *perfect* DIY but for only $100 for the entire project, I’m very pleased with it!

If you want to skip the DIY, I’ve linked some intaglio art options here:
